PM Shahbaz orders formation of task force on rights of minorities

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday approved the formation of a task force on the rights of minorities to protect the rights of minority groups in the country.

Taking to Twitter, PM Shahbaz said: “Our non-Muslim citizens are part of our national fabric.”

This body will monitor the implementation of measures related to the rights of minorities and submit quarterly reports to them, the prime minister wrote.

Two Sikhs shot dead in Peshawar

On May 15, two Sikh men were shot dead by unidentified armed men in Peshawar.

Police said as the attackers arrived on motorcycles and fled after shooting at the Sikh people, a search operation has been launched to trace the perpetrators.

The deceased have been identified as Ranjit Singh and Kanwaljit Singh.

talking to geo newsSadar SP Akeeq Hussain said that the Anti-Terrorism Department has registered a case against the killing of Sikh youths.

SP Hussain said, “The incident appears to be a terrorist attack. The CCTV footage will be acquired and the suspects will be arrested soon.”

PM Shahbaz strongly condemned the incident and directed the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to ensure immediate arrest and punishment of the culprits.

He also urged the Chief Minister to ensure steps to protect the lives and properties of citizens, especially non-Muslims.

The Prime Minister expressed his condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased and said that enmity with Pakistan was behind this act of terrorism.

He expressed his resolve to eliminate the country’s enemies and assured full support from the federal government to the bereaved families.
