PM Modi to meet 7 Indian Covid vaccine manufacturers on Saturday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet seven Indian Covid vaccine manufacturers on Saturday, a meeting in view of achieving the historic target of delivering 100 crore doses of jabs in the country, official sources said.

Representatives from seven vaccine manufacturers – Serum Institute of India, Bharat Biotech, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Zydus Cadila, Biological E, Genova Biopharma and Panacea Biotech will participate in the meeting.

An official source said Modi may push for ways to vaccinate eligible people in India as soon as possible and help other countries vaccinate their populations under the mantra ‘vaccine for all’.

According to the health ministry data at 7 am, the cumulative Covid vaccine doses administered in the country has exceeded 101.3 crore.

India achieved a major milestone in its immunization program against Covid on October 21 as the cumulative dose of vaccine administered in the country crossed the 100 crore mark, resulting in celebrations in various parts.

More than 75 per cent of India’s adult population has received at least one dose of the Covid vaccine, with nine states and union territories giving the first dose to all eligible people.

According to health ministry officials, more than 31 per cent of the country’s approximately 93 crore adults have been given both doses.

So far, all adult population in nine states and union territories – Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Lakshadweep, Sikkim, Uttarakhand and Dadra and Nagar Haveli – have been given at least one dose of the Covid vaccine. has been found. .

Three vaccines – Covishield manufactured by Serum Institute of India, Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin and Sputnik V – are currently being used in the country’s Covid vaccination campaign. PTI
