PM Modi held virtual meeting with CM amid Covid surge

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday interacted with chief ministers on the COVID-19 situation in the country, its Omicron version of the rise in coronavirus cases.

The conversation took place through video-conferencing.

The meeting took place on a day when India recorded 2,47,417 new infections, the highest in 236 days, taking the total number of Covid-19 cases to 3,63,17,927, including 5,488 cases in the Omicron version. were involved. ministry statistics

Fresh restrictions have been imposed in different parts of the country to contain the spread of the highly contagious virus.

Reviewing the COVID situation at a high-level meeting on Sunday, Modi had called for ensuring adequate health infrastructure at the district level and intensifying the vaccination campaign for adolescents in a mission mode.

Apart from health care and frontline workers, a precautionary vaccination campaign has also started for people above 60 years of age.

Modi had said that vaccination is the most effective means to fight Kovid.

The Prime Minister had said that a meeting should be convened with chief ministers to discuss state-specific scenarios, best practices and public health response. PTI
