PM Imran Khan expresses satisfaction over effectiveness of Pakistan’s border management system

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday expressed satisfaction over the effectiveness of Pakistan’s comprehensive border management regime and the practical measures being taken by the military to ensure effective border control and internal security.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the premier along with Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited the Peshawar Corps headquarters on Friday. The Governor and Chief Minister of KP also accompanied the Prime Minister.

According to the statement, on arrival, the PM paid floral tributes at the martyr’s memorial. They were briefed about the current security situation, ongoing stabilization works, fencing along the Pakistan-Afghan border and socio-economic development projects being undertaken in the newly merged districts (erstwhile FATA).

The Prime Minister was also apprised of the various contingencies planned to deal with the evolving security situation along the Pak-Afghan International Border.

He lauded the security forces for providing an enabling environment to carry out socio-economic development projects in the newly-merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which are crucial for the sustainable stability and sustainable progress of the region.

The PM also lauded the formation for dedicated support to the civil administration during the COVID-19 pandemic, locust infestation, anti-polio campaigns and tree plantation drives.
