ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday hit out at the Narendra Modi-led Indian government’s “constant silence” on the call for an extremist Hindutva summit to genocide minorities, especially the Muslim community, in India.

Taking to Twitter, PM Imran said, “The Modi government’s continued silence on the call for an extremist Hindutva summit in December to genocide minorities, especially the 200 million Muslim community in India, supports the question whether The BJP government supports this call.”

Violent hate speeches were made during the “Dharma Sansad” held in Haridwar, Uttarakhand from December 17-19, 2021.

In a series of tweets, the Prime Minister urged the international community to take notice of the call and act against it. He said that under the extremist ideology of BJP Modi government, Hindutva groups have targeted all religious minorities in India.

PM Imran Khan said, “The extremist agenda of the Modi government is a real and present threat to peace in our region.”

As tweeted by the premier, the Supreme Court of India decided to take up a case related to hate speech, including the open call for the carnage made at the conclave, NDTV reported.

“We will take up the matter,” Chief Justice of India NV Ramana was quoted as saying by the media outlet.

According to the Time of India, around 200,000 Muslims gathered in the city of Bareilly last week and offered themselves for “mass sacrifice” to protest the hate speeches.

FO expresses concern over calls for Muslim genocide

Pakistan on December 27 condemned Hindutva leaders’ call for Muslim genocide in India and lamented New Delhi’s inaction on the matter.

The Indian charge d’affairs was called to the Ministry of External Affairs, Islamabad, to express Pakistan’s serious concerns over the call for Muslim genocide.

In a statement, the Foreign Office had said that it is highly condemnable that Hindu Raksha Sena’s Prabodhanand Giri and other Hindutva figures who have called for ethnic cleansing of Muslims have neither expressed any regret nor the Indian government. Till now have not condemned them or taken any action against them.

Indian Police started investigation

Indian police said in December that they had launched an investigation into an event where Hindu fundamentalists called for mass killings of minority Muslims.

According to a video, a speaker present in the meeting told the crowd that people should not worry about going to jail for killing Muslims.

“Even if only a hundred of us become soldiers and kill two million of them, we will be victorious” […] If you stand with this attitude then only you will be able to protect Sanatan Dharma (a complete form of Hinduism),” the woman said.

At least one member of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s BJP attended the meeting in the northern holy city of Haridwar.

Prabodhanand Giri – the head of a fringe Hindu group often photographed with senior BJP members – called for “cleanliness” and for those present to be “ready to die or be killed”.

“Like in Myanmar, the police, politicians, army and every Hindu in India should take up arms and clean it up. There is no other option left,” he is heard saying.
