Pirates’ Bryan Reynolds continues push for trade amid extension negotiations with the team

The Pirates have some leverage as Reynolds remains in control of the team for the next three seasons. 28 year old signed Two year, $13.5 million contract last spring.

Despite Reynolds’ arbitration buyout of the first two years of the deal, he did not appear pleased with how negotiations had developed.

Reynolds said, “I think we have a right to have those feelings too, and that’s what we did. But obviously, we can’t force them to do anything.”

Reynolds resolved to prepare for the upcoming season.

“Like I said, I’m here,” Reynolds said. “I’ll always be where my feet are. I’m here now, so I’m 100% off to Pirates and whatever it takes. I’m just down here to try and start my work.” To be a good season.”

Manager Derek Shelton reiterated his belief that Reynolds would not be a distraction to the team.

“There is a business side to this sport,” Shelton said. “You have to understand this. Our expectations, my expectations and everything I think Brian has said to me personally and publicly, is he’s going to be the same person and go about his business. Kind of what we expect. Don’t think anything different is going to happen.”

The Pirates reportedly made the purchase after Reynolds made a trade request, but was not dealt with. Pirates Reynolds kicked out of Vanderbilt in 2016, and he made his big league debut in 2019.
