Parambir Singh, Sachin Vaze booked for extortion

The Goregaon police on Friday registered an FIR against former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh and sacked Assistant Inspector Sachin Waje, who is currently lodged in jail in the Ambani terror case, for allegedly cashing Rs 11.92 lakh. and for extortion of valuables. hotelier

This is the fifth FIR against Singh. Two separate Anti-Corruption Bureau investigations are also going on against him.

Singh was transferred from the post of police commissioner and made DG (home guard) earlier this year in a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, alleging that the then Home Minister Anil Deshmukh was trying to get hoteliers in Mumbai from police officials. Asked to take bribe.

The 48-year-old complainant is a businessman, contractor and builder. He also has a criminal record and an FIR has been registered against him by the Economic Offenses Wing, CBI and ED. The complainant is also among the 28 accused booked by Thane Nagar police for extortion along with Singh on July 30.

In the fresh FIR, the businessman has said that he came in contact with Waze after filing an extortion complaint 20 years ago, which was transferred to the crime branch. They met Waze again in January-February 2020, a few weeks before setting up a hotel in Goregaon.

The businessman has alleged that he started receiving extortion calls from Waze and some of his associates, also named in the FIR.

He has claimed that the accused took away “Rs 9 lakh in cash and two cellphones worth Rs 2.92 lakh, collectively Rs 11.92 lakh” from him.

Apart from Singh and Veje, a case has been registered against four others in the matter. One of the accused, Sumit Singh, was arrested by a magistrate court on Saturday and sent to two-day police custody. The case has been transferred to the Crime Branch.
