Panchkula extortion case: Police raided the house of the main accused, recovered Rs 24.60 lakh, pistol, jewelry

Panchkula police on Wednesday raided the house of Anil Bhalla, the main accused in the high-profile extortion case, in Sector 2, and recovered a pistol, a huge amount of jewelery and signed stamp papers and cheques.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Tuesday conducted the raids after questioning Anil Bhalla and his son Sahil during their three-day police remand obtained from the District Court, Panchkula.

The father-son duo were questioned in connection with the seizure of drugs, illegal arms, gold jewelery and unaccounted cash worth Rs 4.63 from their family members on May 30 from a four-wheeler in Sector 2 market.

In the first raid, about 697 grams of opium was recovered from Anil Bhalla’s family, then Sahil told the police that opium was bought from one. Nirmal SinghResident of Basola Pinjore village.

Police immediately raided Nirmal Singh’s house and recovered opium worth Rs 10 lakh from his possession. He was also arrested. A case has been registered in this regard under the NDPS Act at Pinjore police station.
