Pakistan to participate in T20 tri-series with New Zealand, Bangladesh from October 7-14

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Tuesday that the Green Shirts will participate in a T20 tri-series in Christchurch, New Zealand from October 7-14, with Bangladesh as the third team.

According to the cricket board, the series is part of the team’s preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup to be held later this year.

The press release said that Pakistan will take on Bangladesh on October 7 and New Zealand the next day.

“In the second round of matches, Pakistan will play New Zealand and Bangladesh on October 11 and 13 respectively, while the final will be held on October 14,” the PCB said.

The PCB further said that Pakistan will start their campaign by playing against India on 23 October.

“They will then play two qualifiers in Perth on 27 and 30 October, Sydney on 3 November and Bangladesh will take on South Africa in Adelaide on 6 November.”

Captain Babar Azam looked excited about the tri-series.

“I am happy that we will take part in the tri-series in New Zealand as it will help us reach early and not only get used to the T20 World Cup in Australia but will also give a final touch to our preparations.” PCB says.

“I missed the last series in New Zealand due to a thumb injury and look forward to playing cricket in Christchurch against two good opponents,” he said.

Pakistan will leave for Christchurch on October 4 after completing the seven-match T20I series against England on October 2.

Ahead of the England series, Pakistan will participate in the ACC T20 Asia Cup, which is scheduled from 27 August to 11 September in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
