Pakistan records ‘wettest April’ in more than 60 years: weather agency

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan experienced its “wettest April” since 1961, with the month receiving more than twice the normal rainfall, the country’s weather agency said in a report. Pakistan’s Metrology Department said in its monthly climate report late on Friday that rainfall in April was recorded at 59.3 mm, “much higher” than the normal average of 22.5 mm. The storm caused at least 144 deaths due to heavy rains and house collapses, the report said, making it “the wettest April since 1961”.
