Pak vs Ban: Babar Azam and co-sniff win in Dhaka Test after Mushfiqur Rahim’s run out

Pakistan were four wickets away from winning the second Test against Bangladesh after ending Mushfiqur Rahim’s resistance in Dhaka on Wednesday.

Mushfiqur put on two fine partnerships with Liton Das and Shakib Al Hasan, before getting an uncanny run out at the stroke of tea on the fifth day.

Mushfiqur scored 48 as hosts Bangladesh struggled to 146-6 in their second innings at the break, still needing 66 to avoid an innings defeat.

Shakib Al Hasan, who added 49 runs for the sixth wicket with Mushfiqur, remained their last hope with an unbeaten 24 not out till the break.

Liton had earlier scored 45 runs to defy Pakistan’s attack and shared a 73-run stand for the fifth wicket. Sajid Khan, who added his 8-42 runs in the first innings.

After bowling out Bangladesh for 87 in the first innings, the team’s lowest score on home soil, Pakistan were hoping for a quick kill after enforcing a follow-on.

Hasan Ali and Shaheen Afridi took two wickets in the morning session for the tourists, leaving Bangladesh 25-4 in their second innings, before Liton and Mushfiqur came up with resistance.

Shakib also showed some aggression, hitting Hasan for three consecutive deliveries, boosting Bangladesh’s hopes of recovering from the draw.

Only 63.2 overs of play was possible in the first three days. Rain and bad lighting.

Pakistan lead 1-0 in the two-Test series eight-wicket win in Chittagong.
