Ontario man credits data crunching for $118,000 lottery prize globalnews.ca

A Kawartha City of LakesAn Ontario man credits his data analysis for helping him claim a lottery prize of more than $118,000.

According to olgRendall Penny from the Village of kirkfieldIn reply to Lindsey, the January 4 Lotto 6/49 draw won the second place prize of $118,002.40.

Penny, who bought her ticket at the Loblaws on Kent Street in Lindsay, says it’s her first big win, but she’s always tried to use data to help her pick her numbers.

“I’ve been playing Lotto 6/49 since I arrived,” he said. “I keep an excel sheet with all the winning numbers and analyze the data to pick the most common numbers.”

The construction worker says that when he came to know about the prize, he checked his ticket on the OLG app.

“I heard the victory jingle and I couldn’t believe it,” he said. “I showed it to my partner and his eyes widened and he said, ‘No way.'”

With the winnings, Dad and Grandpa plan to pay off some bills and buy new furniture for their house.

“I’ll invest the rest,” he said. “This money is going to do a lot for me.”
