A toddler is the sole survivor of the Monday afternoon crash that claimed the lives of a man, a woman and their eight-day-old baby.
In a press release issued Monday, RCMP said a passenger car and a pickup truck collided on Highway 3A in Thrums, BC just before 4 p.m. Monday.
RCMP said, “The preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of the passenger car maneuvered his vehicle in a manner with a U-turn into the path of the pickup truck.”
By the time emergency crews arrived, people in the vicinity had already administered first aid to the victims of the accident.

“Three out of four people in the passenger car; A 26-year-old man, a 25-year-old woman and an eight-day-old infant were pronounced dead at the scene.
The fourth passenger of the car, a two-year-old girl, was taken to hospital and is expected to recover from her injuries.
“The driver and lone occupant of the pickup suffered minor injuries and were treated for their injuries,” RCMP said.
Highway 3A was closed for a while while the RCMP and BC Coroner’s Service continued to investigate. After this the road has been opened again.
