A man was shot dead while a gunman is still on the run after the shootout Melbourneis southeast.

Emergency services were called at 6 a.m. Monday at a home on Corrigan Road in Noble Park.

The gunman was reportedly seen fleeing the area on foot.

Police have closed Corrigan Road between Lightwood and Kelvinside Streets.

VicTraffic warned drivers to use alternate routes on their morning commute.

Viktrafic wrote on Twitter, ‘Follow the instructions of emergency services.

‘Avoid the area by using Springvale Road or Chandler Road instead.’

A dog squad has been deployed to assist the officers in locating the gunman.
