The cable car uses two cabins on the 1,000 m (3,300 ft) Jested mountain, each manned by a staff.
“One of the cabins collapsed on the way down. There was a person inside who unfortunately died,” spokesman Michael Georgiev told Czech television.
“Luckily, the second cabin remained in its normal place, some 15 people were evacuated, they should be without injury, just a trauma,” he said.
