On Kannada Rajyotsava, Karnataka launches three digital services for citizens

On the occasion of Kannada Rajyotsava on Monday, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai launched three services – Janasevaka at the doorstep of one for public services; Janspandana, an Integrated Public Grievance Redressal System (IPGRS); and 30 contactless digital services in the Department of Transport.

According to the Chief Minister, the three initiatives enhance public convenience by providing various government services online. “All these services have been successfully implemented efficiently in Bengaluru. These can be extended to rural areas. Doorstep public services will be started in rural areas across the state on January 26,” Bommai said.

A government survey found that around 60 lakh people in the state visit the transport department’s offices for various services, he said, adding that efforts would now be made to reduce this number by using contactless services.

Through IPGRS, the government promises a one-stop platform for citizens to make complaints on any government scheme or service. It also has a helpline (1902). It is modeled after the Central Government’s Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS), which provides 24×7 online assistance to citizens.

According to officials of the e-governance department, they have spent the last two months running the IPGRS on a pilot basis to understand how it responds to complaints made by citizens. In pilot phase, IPGRS app is available on Google The Play Store received 1,583 complaints, most of them related to the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR) department.

Meanwhile, Janaseva will provide 56 services including ration at subsidized rates at people’s doorsteps in all 28 assembly constituencies of Bengaluru Urban district.

Under the Jan Seva Yojana, arrangements have been made to deliver ration from door to door. We have a pro-people government, which is reaching people’s doorsteps. People’s faith in democracy is strengthened when these essential services reach the citizens directly,” Bommai said.
