Officer: 1 person killed in police shooting in Vineland, New Jersey

VINELAND, New Jersey (WPVI) – The New Jersey Attorney General’s office is investigating a deadly police-target that killed a man in Vineland on Saturday morning.

Vineland’s Tom Profeta said, “I’ve never seen anything like this. Not here. It’s really scary.”

The incident happened around 5:30 a.m. at Penn Lincoln Mobile Home Park, between Brandywine Drive and Pennsylvania Avenue.

Officials say an officer from the Vineland Police Department opened fire with his service weapon, seriously injuring an unidentified man.

According to the police, the youth was declared brought dead on the spot shortly after.

“I heard the boom, and then the gunshot,” said resident Millie Martinez.

Videos from the scene also show an ambulance, a police SUV with a damaged front end, another police SUV, and a badly damaged red sedan.

It is still unclear how the vehicles were damaged and how it relates to the investigation into the shooting.

“It was terrible,” said Nikita Holly from Vineland.

Three Vineland police officers received minor injuries during the incident.

Officials say they have since been treated and released.

The investigation is ongoing, and no further information is being released at this time.
