Whereas Notre Dame men’s basketball coaches Mike Bray would step down from the program at the end of the season, his coaching career not coming to a close.

Notre Dame and Brea announced in January that the 23-year coach in South Bend, Indiana, would leave the program after the season.
“It’s been a great past two decades for me and our program, but it’s time for a new voice to lead this group into the future,” Bray said in a release. “I want to thank our student-athletes, assistant coaches and support staff who have played such an important role in the culture we have created.”

The all-time winningest coach in program history, Bray has a 482–274 record, leading the Irish to the top. NCAA Tournament 13 times and reached the Elite Eight in 2015 and 2016.
“Mike (Bray) and I have spoken frequently in recent years about the future transition of the program’s leadership, and during our most recent conversation we have come to the mutual conclusion that this session should be considered,” said James, the university’s vice president.
