North Delhi: Stalker arrested for attacking woman with shaving blade

A 30-year-old woman was allegedly attacked with a blade by a 21-year-old man in North Delhi. Police said they have arrested accused Sushil Kumar, who was allegedly stalking the woman for months.

The woman suffered a minor injury to her neck.

She was on her way to drop her children to a tuition class on Tuesday afternoon when the accused allegedly threatened her with a blade and asked her to sit on his bike. Terrified, she went with him.

Police said the accused took her to a secluded area and allegedly beat her up with a blade. Police said the woman cried out for help and the local people of the area immediately rushed to her aid. The accused saw the crowd and snatched his phone before running away from the bike.

The woman filed a complaint claiming that Sushil, who lives nearby, has been harassing her since April.

DCP (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi said, “We sent our teams to trace the accused. Within 24 hours, we found where he was hiding. We sent our team and arrested him. His bike and the shaving blade used during the crime have also been confiscated.

During interrogation, Sushil told the police that he was “angry” as the victim was ignoring him. He had allegedly threatened and assaulted her in April, but the victim did not file a complaint then.

“He was dismayed that the woman had rejected his advice and wanted to assault him with the intention of killing him. When the victim shouted for help and the locals gathered, he got scared and snatched the woman’s phone so that she could not call the police,” said DCP Kalsi.

Police said that Sushil is unemployed. A case has been registered against him under IPC sections of attempt to murder, theft, stalking and criminal intimidation.
