In addition to the campaign announcement, the organization also revealed a new name. The executive director of the North Central Family Center said the new name is Orange Buffalo Lodge.

Kim Wenger said, “We found (the name) during the hard work (ceremony) at Carry the Kettle.” “Orange is a safety color so it is considered a safe color. Its purpose is to protect the people who will live (live) here. Buffalo is the provider of all things (like) food, shelter and clothing. The lodge is a place for people to gather and heal.”

Saskatchewan’s Minister of Social Services, who was present at the announcement, said this is an important project that will provide nutrition in a safe environment.

“Creating a safe and inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome (and) valued takes an effort from all levels of government and the community to come together,” said Jean Makowski. “Bringing essential services under one roof improves access to basic needs and support networks.”

The Orange Buffalo Lodge is expected to be completed later this year.
