Noida: Six arrested for snatching chain, mobile phone, two minors arrested

Noida Police on Monday arrested six persons and arrested two minors for allegedly snatching chains and mobile phones, officials said. The station in-charge of Noida Sector 113 police station said that during the police checking in the area, the accused were caught near Sorkha village at 4 am on Monday.

“Around 40 mobiles and 12 display screens have been recovered from them. Our investigation reveals that one of the members stole at least 37 mobiles in a month,” said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Ranvijay Singh. Police also recovered three stolen motorcycles – two Splendor Plus and a Yamaha FZ – from the accused. Two bikes have been stolen from Noida and one from Delhi. In addition to this, Rs 5,000 in cash and two illegal revolvers of .315 bore and two live cartridges have also been recovered from the accused.

“The group’s area of ​​operation was Delhi-NCR where they used to snatch chains and mobile phones and send pictures of the stolen goods to their associates. The associate will then sell the mobile phone. Some of the accused have criminal history. The minor, who was also a snatcher, has been booked under the Juvenile Justice Act,” Singh said.

Police said the accused allegedly used to threaten the victims with revolvers and assault them by snatching phones and gold chains on empty roads near Sector 58, Noida and Parthala. He said the two gang members used to take apart the stolen phones and charge anywhere between Rs 100 to Rs 1,500 for different parts.

One FIR A case has been registered under sections 392 (punishment for dacoity) and 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) of the Indian Penal Code.
