The Japanese automaker’s North American division said it had recalled 322,671 Pathfinder vehicles for models between 2013 and 2016.

Nissan said that dirt and dust accumulation on the secondary hood latch can cause the hood to remain open even when it is closed, potentially allowing it to pop up without warning, according to a filing to the US regulatory body.

Nissan said a measure was being developed and it would send interim notifications starting Wednesday.
