Identified as Jufri Jawahar Damudi, the accused is the brother of IS recruiter Adnan Hassan Damudi, who was arrested by the NIA in 2016 after being deported from Dubai. The case in which Jufri has been arrested pertains to Voice of Hind, an alleged IS propaganda channel aimed at allegedly propagating IS ideology in India and recruiting from the subcontinent.

According to the NIA, Jufri was working under the online identity of ‘Abu Hajir Al Badri’. The NIA has claimed that this cyber ID was also used to radicalize and recruit people. During the searches conducted at Jufri’s residence, the NIA claimed to have seized a large number of digital devices like mobile phones, hard disks, SD cards etc.

Earlier, on July 11, the NIA conducted multiple searches in Jammu and Kashmir and arrested three persons identified as Umar Nisar, Tanveer Ahmed Bhat and Rameez Ahmed Lone in the case.
