New mother won a mansion in a £10 prize draw after her husband FORGOT to buy a ticket

A new mum has won a £3.5million house in a prize draw which costs just £10 to enter – after she bought a ticket when her husband forgot.

Finance analyst Becca Pott, 32, from Londonwon the stunning five-bedroom property near Ascot in the Omaze Million Pound House Draw.

The house boasts five bedrooms which come with three dressing rooms and four luxury bathrooms.

The charming mansion also has a drawing room, a family orangery, a night kitchen, a hot tub and a three-car garage, as well as a massive entrance hall and private garden.

Becca is on maternity leave from her job as a finance analyst after having her first child Ava eight months ago with Ben, 32 and the family currently live in a two-bed flat in East London. She said the new house was ‘incredible’ and the family were looking forward to enjoying the coming summer in their new home.

Becca said that Ben always buys tickets for Omaze’s house draws, which help raise money for Cancer Research UK – but this was the one time he had forgotten.

She said: ‘My husband had entered every Omaze Million Pound House Draw prior to this one, but somehow he’d forgotten to enter on this occasion.

‘Luckily, I decided to buy a £10 ticket bundle in January without him knowing after seeing the house on television – I’m never going to let him live this down.

Becca, Ben and Ava currently live in a two-bedroom flat in Leyton, East London, which they bought in 2017, with their two cats, Winston Purchill and Leonardo DiCatrio.

Becca said: ‘The house is incredible.

‘We’ve been wanting to move to somewhere bigger since our daughter Ava was born – now she’ll be having her first birthday in a mansion.

‘We didn’t have space for her grandparents to come and stay in our two-bedroom flat, but now they can have the entire third floor when they visit.

‘This win is truly life changing for us, we’ll stay here and enjoy the house for the summer at least, but whatever we decide to do, we know Ava is set for life.’

Becca and Ben are now multi-millionaires, with all stamp duty and legal fees covered, as well as receiving £20,000 in cash to help settle-in.

‘We think the partnership between Omaze and Cancer Research UK is fantastic as it’s raising money to help the charity continue its incredible work’.

As the sixth Omaze charity partnership, the house draw has drummed up a donation of £500,000 – money that could help to fund projects such as TRACERx; the largest genetic study to see how lung cancer evolves and why treatments stop working.

The draw was backed by long-standing Cancer Research UK ambassador and singer Ronan Keating.

‘So many of us, myself included, have been affected by cancer,’ said Ronan.

‘I’ve been a proud supporter of Cancer Research UK for*many years and have seen first-hand the difference research makes to those affected by cancer. Everyone who entered the draw has helped the charity continue its work to save more lives.’

The total raised by Omaze Million-Pound House Draws in the UK now comes to £3,750,000, with the seventh house draw – which will raise money for Alzheimer’s Research UK – open to enter until 27th March 2022.

hopefully it won’t be a washout like this

One of the homes in a previous prize draw threatened to be a washout before the winner had even moved in.

The £2.5million Willowbrook House mansion near Chipping Norton in the Cotswolds was swamped by a flood.

Omaze said it followed ‘freak weather’ and a drainage problem was fixed before IT consultant Darren Wordon, 50, won it last year. It is now back on the market as the Wordons want to return to their native Somerset.

An Omaze said: ‘The house was in pristine condition for Darren and his family – there have been no issues with the property since they took ownership.’
