Neighbor murdered after listening to loud music

A 25-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing his neighbor in anger after he later refused to turn down the volume of a song on his tape recorder.

The incident took place on Wednesday night at 10 pm at Ekta Chawl Society located in Ambujwadi, Malwani, Malad (West).

The deceased Surendra Gaur (47) and Saif Ali Sheikh (25) both worked as laborers. “The deceased was listening to songs on his tape recorder outside his house. When the accused asked him to reduce his voice, a fight broke out between the two. The victim suffered head injuries and was declared brought dead at the hospital,” said a police officer.

A police officer said that Shaikh did not intend to kill Gaur, but suffered serious head injuries, which led to his death.

Sheikh has been arrested under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code for murder on the complaint of Gaur’s wife. “He was produced in a magistrate’s court and remanded to our custody,” said Arjun Rajne, police inspector (crime) of Malwani police station.
