Neena Gupta is not only an exceptional actor but also a loving mother to the talented fashion-designer daughter Masaba Gupta. The mother-daughter duo have appeared together in Netflix’s hit biographical drama show Masaba Masaba, a scripted version of Masaba Gupta’s life, detailing her family, her love life and her career as a fashion designer. Masaba and her mother, Neena Gupta, play fictionalized versions of themselves. Now that Masaba has forayed into the acting industry, there was a time when Neena Gupta refused her to enter the acting field.
Elaborating about the same, Neena told Times News Network, “Masaba has been around people from the film industry all her life. There is so much glamor and fame in this world that everyone wants to be an actor. She understood why I was refusing her to become an actor.”
The Panchayat actor also shared that she was quite worried when the show’s producer Ashwini Yardi approached her with this zany idea. On the one hand, the prospect looked interesting, but on the other hand, Nina was skeptical whether Masaba would be able to pull it off. But much to the veteran actor’s surprise, Vibrant, the fashion designer-turned-actor, came up with flying colors. Neena revealed, “When producer Ashwini Yardi came up with the idea to make an OTT show on her life, I was amazed by the concept and at the same time worried, as it was a difficult role. But I was surprised… that very much. Was convinced. When I saw the crowd, I was mesmerized by her performance. I apologized to her for stopping her from acting.”
Expressing that he feels proud of Masaba and that he may get more acts in the future, the Badhaai Ho actor said, “While I want Masaba to act more, it is clear that she has a fashion business as well.
