NATO’s Stoltenberg rebukes allies for tepid support of Ukraine

Stoltenberg warns that failure to support Ukraine is “about life and death” as Russian forces continue to advance against Ukrainian defenders who are short of weapons and ammunition due to delays in sending supplies.

“When we are not distributing as we should, Ukrainians are paying the price. But we too,” he warned, “will have to pay the biggest price if Russia wins in Ukraine.” Because then we talk about the vast sums of money that NATO allies will have to invest in security. . Supporting Ukraine is the best way to ensure our security.

Stoltenberg acknowledged that allies have been increasing pledges and deliveries in recent weeks – particularly after the US decision to approve $61 billion of arms aid, as well as new packages from the UK, Canada and other allies.

“But [we] It has to be ensured that announcements translate into deliveries. Because time matters, every day matters,” Stoltenberg said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also warned Moscow is taking advantage of the delay in delivering arms and ammunition to the front lines.

He underlined the need for 155-caliber artillery ammunition, long-range weapons and anti-aircraft defenses, primarily Patriot systems, saying, “Efficiency in supply literally means stabilization of the front.”
