Mumbai: Vaccination will resume on Saturday after a gap of two days at government-run centers

After a gap of two days, vaccination is likely to resume at over 300 government centers on Saturday. However, the centers remain closed on Sundays.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) was supposed to get 1,59,000 doses of the vaccine on Thursday night. Stock is now expected on Friday.

The BMC had announced that the vaccination campaign for Thursday and Friday has been postponed due to shortage of supplies.

The BMC had earlier received 45,000 doses of the vaccine last Saturday, which was over by Monday. Government-run centers have been closed for six days this month due to the lack of a vaccine. Till August 11, 4.72 lakh citizens had been vaccinated.

Due to the reduction in vaccine doses, fewer beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the city than the capacity. 76.96 lakh citizens of all age groups in the city have received the vaccines, of which only 19.26 lakh citizens have received both the shots.

A total of 1,45,761 citizens aged 18-44 have received both doses, while 8,16,283 citizens in the age group 44-59 have been fully vaccinated.
