Mumbai: PIL sought to remove PM’s name, tricolor from PM-CARES Fund

The Thane District Congress President recently filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Bombay High Court seeking a direction to drop the names ‘Prime Minister’, ‘National Flag’ and ‘Emblem’ from the name of the Trust, which was called “PM Citizen”. ” is called. The petition states that PM-CARES is a public charitable trust, a non-government organization, operating privately and the amount collected by it does not go to the Consolidated Fund of India. Therefore, the use of the name and image of the Prime Minister, the flag and the emblem violates the laws and regulations governing the said symbols.

A division bench of Justice AA Syed and Justice SG Dige was on Tuesday hearing a PIL filed by Thane District Congress President and Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) Councilor Vikrant Chavan through advocate Sagar Joshi on October 5.

The bench adjourned further hearing to October 25 after Additional Solicitor General Anil Singh sought time to take directions and respond to the petition.
