The Maharashtra government has sent a proposal to the Union Public Service Commissioner to reconsider the empanelment of the DGP of Maharashtra in the name of acting DGP Sanjay Pandey. The names of Hemant Nagrale, Rajneesh Seth and K Venkatasam are included in the list of three IPS officers shortlisted by UPSC. However, the state is not keen on having any of these three as police chiefs, and wants Pandey to remain so until his retirement in June 2022.

Dilip Pandharpatte, who was appointed as Maharashtra’s director general of information and public relations with effect from January 2020 and also promoted as secretary of the same department, was earlier this month before completing a year at the helm of the department. He was unnecessarily removed from his post. , The state government has now given the additional charge of DGIPR to Deepak Kapoor, who is the managing director of the Maharashtra Airport Development Corporation, while Pandharpatte has been appointed as the secretary of the water conservation department.
