Mumbai: 59% increase in air traffic in July

Due to gradual easing of domestic travel restrictions and increase in flight capacity, Mumbai International Airport Limited has registered a growth of about 59 percent in passenger traffic in July 2021 as compared to June 2021.

The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has hosted around 1.1 million passengers this July on over 11,400 flights to domestic and international destinations. During the weekend in July-June, about five lakh passengers traveled on more than 4,000 flights, while during the weekend, three lakh passengers traveled on more than 2,700 flights.

An official press note from CSMIA said that the weekend saw a majority of passengers traveling to Delhi, Bengaluru and Hyderabad in the domestic sector and Doha, Newark and Dubai in the international sector.

While passenger traffic is growing aggressively, negative RT-PCR certificate is required for air travel in most of the Indian states and abroad.

To help passengers travel with less hassle, CSMIA has set up more than 30 counters COVID-19 Testing at Terminal 2 for international and domestic passengers.
