A 50-year-old man was arrested in Mumbai on Saturday for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl living in his neighbourhood. The incident came to light when the girl became pregnant.
Police said that on May 24, when one of the accused, one of the girl’s neighbors shifted to his new house, he asked her to help him shift. Later, he accused her of stealing some items from his house, the police said.
Police said that on the intervening night of May 24 and May 25, he raped her before going home. The girl did not tell anyone about the alleged incident. Last week, when her health took a turn for the worse, her family called a doctor who told them she was pregnant.
