MP laborer’s hand chopped off for demanding outstanding wages

In Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district, a 45-year-old laborer’s hand was allegedly chopped off by his employer when he sought his arrears of salary, an official said on Sunday, adding that three people were arrested.

Police said that the incident took place on Saturday in Dolamu village of Sirmaur police station area, about 40 km from Rewa district headquarters.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shiv Kumar Verma said Ashok Saket, who belongs to a Scheduled Caste, had earlier worked as a laborer in a Ganesh Mishra’s construction work in Dolamau village, he said, adding that Mishra allegedly pending wages. were paying. ,

Saket, a resident of Pastor village, and another person met Mishra on Saturday to resolve the matter. However, a heated argument broke out between them, after which Mishra and others allegedly attacked Saket with a sharp weapon and cut off one of his hands.

The ASP said that the accused tried to hide the severed hand nearby, which was later detected.

He said that the police took the laborer to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital where a team of doctors surgically reattached the amputated hand.

He quoted doctors as saying that the condition of the victim was critical due to excessive bleeding.

Police have arrested Mishra and his brothers Ratnesh Mishra and Krishna Kumar Mishra under sections 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC and provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, an official said. PTI
