More trouble for politician Shrikant Tyagi, police register another case; Raids to nab him – India Times Hindi News

Trouble mounts for Srikant Tyagi, an absconding accused of threatening a woman in Noida, with the police registering another case against him over irregularities related to vehicles recovered from his residence.

He was first booked under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (assault or criminal force to any woman, intention to insult or likely to be known to outrage her modesty) along with her co-resident on Friday. A case was registered under a dispute. Housing Society in Sector 93B. The woman objected to Srikant Tyagi planting some trees, citing violation of rules, which she claimed was within her right to do so.

Tyagi has identified himself as a national executive member of the BJP’s Kisan Morcha and its national coordinator of its youth committee, which has been denied by BJP leaders.

“Another case has been registered regarding irregularities related to vehicles recovered from Shrikant Tyagi’s residence. Various teams are conducting raids to arrest him. Their relatives are being questioned,” said Ankita Sharma, ADCP, Central Noida.

On Saturday, Tyagi’s supporters allegedly created a ruckus in the housing complex, raised slogans and asked for the woman’s address. Local people also came out in large numbers and protested the inaction of the police.

Earlier, the Noida Police said that they have detained four close associates and seized two vehicles of the absconding accused.

With opposition parties attacking the BJP, party’s Gautam Buddh Nagar MP Mahesh Sharma and BJP’s Noida unit chief Mahesh Gupta visited the Grand Omaxe Society and met local residents. He told the residents that Tyagi was not a member of the BJP and assured his party’s support.

In Uttar Pradesh, the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party pulled up the BJP over the issue. At a press conference in Noida, Congress’ Pankhuri Pathak shared pictures of Tyagi with senior BJP leaders as she hit out at the party for its “anti-women” attitude.

He also accused the BJP of “lying with his teeth” about Tyagi’s affiliation with the party. “Today BJP is saying that Shrikant Tyagi is not a member of the party. But he was roaming with such security staff, which is not even with MLAs or ministers. His clout in this government is conceivable,” said Pathak. AAP’s Gautam Buddh Nagar unit chief Bhupendra Jadaun also shared photographs of Tyagi with senior BJP leaders and other documents and claimed that he has links with the saffron party.

Tyagi had earlier said that the woman’s claims were false and that she had earlier instigated the assault. He had also claimed that the matter was getting worse because of his affiliation with the BJP.
