More than 150 heart sculptures on display in Kansas City at ‘Parade of Hearts’

KANSAS CITY, Mo. Heart sculptures marked with “KC” are being displayed in the Kansas City area this week to support tourism, local businesses, early childcare and education, as well as those affected by COVID-19.

Local artists presented their work in the hopes of being selected to exhibit their art on one of the sculptures.

From an homage to the Jazz District, to a love of barbecue, you can see all kinds of arts that represent Kansas City culture.

On Monday, the organization will announce the location of Hearts, and later this week, will release an app where people can receive incentives at certain locations where they are displayed.

This will go on for the next few months and the hearts will be auctioned in June.

The Parade of Hearts will support the efforts of the University of Kansas Health System, which is helping COVID patients with the long-term impact on their hearts, and the Mid America Regional Council, which is working to reopen early baby.

Minority-owned business grants through AltCap and locally-owned hospitality and tourism business grants through the Visit Casey Foundation will also benefit from the project.

Each artist will receive a $2,000 stipend for their work.
