Ortiz painted his fingernails with white polish, put on fake eyelashes, applied makeup to his face, and threw on a wig.

Officials said Ortiz could not be traced as he passed several checkpoints before a guard opened the prison’s exit gate.

Police found Ortiz several blocks away from the prison and arrested three others who were allegedly part of a prison break plot as they were about to take him to a hideout in the central region of Paraguay.

Ortiz was moved to the Emboscada National Peninsula in the municipality of Emboscada, 32 miles from Asuncion.

One of the other accomplices who escaped from prison was identified as Victor Paredes, Ortiz’s brother-in-law.

He was wanted on March 1 for the murder of a woman employed as a maid by the Infran clan, a well-known family involved in drug trafficking and money laundering.
