Savannah Krieger, 32, shot her 3-year-old son Caden and ultimately turned the gun on herself in a murder-suicide in San Antonio, Texas in March. ,Bexar County Sheriff’s Office,

The Sheriff’s Office says the woman left her job at 2023 Lincoln Navigator around 1 a.m. on March 18 and drove to her ex-husband’s residence in Southeast San Antonio. Sheriff Salazar said the woman entered the home and caused damage to personal clothing, items of furniture and miscellaneous items inside the residence.

The ex-husband, who was not identified by authorities, is believed to have been at his place of employment at the time of the incident. After this the woman left that person’s house and went to her home.

The couple were in the process of getting a divorce and a custody hearing was scheduled for the day the mother and son died. The woman later left the residence to pick up her child from daycare.

She then FaceTimed her ex-husband around 2:46 pm CT and told him, “Now you have nothing to go home to. “You don’t really have that… and at the end of the day you won’t have anything.” The man then contacted the sheriff’s office to file a criminal mischief report.

Investigators say the woman then took her son to Tom Slick Park in San Antonio.

Krieger then attempted to FaceTime her ex-husband. According to the Sheriff’s Office, he then sent a text message that read, “Say goodbye to your son.”

Krieger made another attempt to call her ex-husband a few minutes later. When the man did not pick up the phone, he recorded a video with his son from a drainage ditch in which he told the child to “say goodbye to dad” and apologized to the child for not having his father there.

Authorities found the bodies of both Krieger and her child in a drainage ditch 19 hours later.

Both had bullet wounds on their bodies. Sheriff Salazar said he could not speculate on what the outcome of the custody hearing would be, but said the mother “could lose custody of the child”.
