Mom found naked sex offender inside her Knoxville home, report says

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – On December 19, the Knoxville Police Department responded to an intruder’s call inside Daphne Crowley’s apartment.

Crowley said she was returning home that day, waiting for her daughter to answer at the door.

The mother said that once her daughter opened the door, she realized that a stranger was inside their house wearing nothing but a new pair of her daughter’s shoes.

Crowley said he told his daughter to call the police while she was chasing the intruder.

“I chased him with these sticks because if I had caught him, I would have defeated him. But he ran down the street on the way,” Crowley shared.

Once KPD officers reached the spot, they were able to locate and arrest Desired sex offender Michael Tyler Henegar, 27, In a wooded area near Crowley’s apartment.

Officers reported finding several of Crowley’s belongings, including a Scooby-Doo handbag and an impact drill.

Crowley said she’s glad Heineger was caught, and she plans to install an alarm system soon.

He believed that Henegar had come in through the courtyard door, that his grandson had left open.

Until she finds the alarm system, Crowley has her sofa blocking the entrance to the patio door of her apartment.

“I’m calm now, but at the time I was really trembling and crying because it’s scary. You think these people are in your house and they’re sex offenders and your kids are running around and you think You are safe,” Crowley said.

KPD reported that Heneger was convicted of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in 2014 by electronic means, and has a history of multiple violations for not registering as a sex offender.
