7 October 2005 – Received the Nobel Peace Prize jointly with the IAEA for its efforts “To prevent nuclear energy from being used for military purposes and to ensure that nuclear energy is used in the safest manner for peaceful purposes.”

January 2011 – A source told CNN that he participates in the protests in Cairo and is being placed under house arrest.

April 26, 2011 – ElBaradei’s book, “The Age of Deception: Nuclear Diplomacy in Treacherous Times” is published.

14 July 2013 – Sworn in as Egypt’s Interim Vice President for Foreign Relations.

14 August 2013 – Resigned and stepped down as Vice President of Foreign Relations to protest the heavy police response to anti-government protesters. He goes to Vienna before the end of the month.
