Lahore: Record-breaking mountaineer Shehrooz Kashif, who went missing with Fazal Ali after climbing Nanga Parbat yesterday, is safe and is safe from the basecamp while descending at Camp 3, his father Kashif Suleman confirmed.

Journalist Jameel Nagri said on Twitter that mountaineers Sheroze Kashif and Fazal Ali were safe at Nanga Parbat. He said that the police, tour operators, climbers and base camp staff have confirmed that the climbers have started moving from Camp 3.

A day earlier, Pakistani mountaineer Shehrooz Kashif, the youngest in the country’s mountaineering community, set another record by becoming the youngest mountaineer to scale Nanga Parbat.

Nanga Parbat is the 9th highest peak in the world, and is one of the 14 8-thousand mountains worldwide up to 8,126 metres.

Kashif has scaled Everest, K2, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Manaslu and Broad Peak.

The 20-year-old climber aims to claim the title of world’s youngest climber to scale the 14 highest mountains.

Earlier, Salman had said that he had lost contact with his son on his return from Nanga Parbat.

In an emotional video message, Shehrouz’s father appealed to the government to launch a search operation to trace the climber.

Sharif Sadpara missing on Broad Peak

In another incident, Pakistani mountaineer Sharif Sadpara went missing after climbing Broad Peak, the world’s twelfth highest mountain at 8,051 meters above sea level, confirmed his teammate Dilawar Sadpara.

As per the details, a three-man team comprising of Sharif Sadpara, Dilawar Sadpara and Imtiaz Ali Sadpara went missing to measure Broad Peak and K2.

Dilawar Sadpara said, ‘Sharif Sadpara could not balance due to strong winds at high altitude and fell on the Chinese side before disappearing.

“It is not possible to trace him by land route,” he said and urged the authorities to launch an air search operation.
