Minar-e-Pakistan attack case: 10 more suspects arrested, sent to jail for identification parade

Meanwhile, another suspect in connection with the incident came to the fore when he filed a petition for pre-arrest bail in a sessions court in Lahore, which was later granted.

In the petition of which a copy is available with don.comSuspect, Shehrouz Saeed said that he was Nominated in First Information Report (FIR) for harassing a woman TikToker and her accomplices on the grounds of “malicious intent” at Greater Iqbal Park, Lahore, on Independence Day.

He further claimed in the petition that the case was registered due to the “wrong motive” of “humiliating and harassing” him.

Saeed further said that he did not commit the crime on which he was charged and that the allegations against him were “completely false, baseless and fabricated”.

He said a case has been registered against him so that he could be blackmailed with the connivance of the local police.

“The intended arrest of the petitioner is tainted with malevolence” [intention] of the local police,” he said.

Furthermore, he expressed his willingness to join the investigation of the case if required by the police, saying that there was no “derogatory material” available to link him to the charges leveled against him.

Fearing his arrest, Saeed appeared on Saturday with a bail plea before Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Saeed.

The judge granted anticipatory bail to the petitioner till September 3 and sought case records from the police.

The Lahore Police on Tuesday registered a case against hundreds of unidentified people, including Saeed, for allegedly assaulting and stealing a woman TikToker and her accomplices at the city’s Greater Iqbal Park.

A copy of which is available in the FIR lodged at Lorry Adda police station. don.comThe complainant said that she, along with six accomplices, was making a video near Minar-e-Pakistan on Independence Day, when around 300 to 400 people “attacked” her.

He said that he and his associates tried hard to escape from the crowd. Sensing the situation, the security guard of the park opened the gate of the enclosure around Minar-e-Pakistan, the FIR quoted him as saying.

“However, the crowd was huge and people were crossing the fence and coming towards us. People were pushing and pulling me to such an extent that they tore my clothes. Many people tried to help me. But the crowd was too much and they kept throwing me in the air,” she said.

He further said that his associates were also assaulted. During the conflict, her ring and earrings were “forcibly taken away”, besides the mobile phone of one of her accomplices, her identity card and Rs 15,000 on her person.

“Unknown people attacked us violently,” the complainant said.

The FIR was registered under sections 354A (assault or criminal force against woman and her stripping), 382 (theft after preparation to cause death, hurt or restraint), 147 (rioting) . and 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The incident had caught the attention of the authorities after the video of the incident went viral and outrage spread on social media.

Yesterday (Friday) Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzfar presided over a meeting on the incident, after which the provincial police chief said there were senior police officers. Suspended For negligence and delayed response in handling the incident.
