MANILA: The Philippines’ newly-appointed foreign minister on Tuesday vowed to uphold a 2016 decision by an international tribunal that ruled most of Beijing in the disputed South China Sea, a week after China sought to strengthen ties with the new Philippine government. Claims invalidated.

Manila and Beijing have a long-standing dispute over the South China Sea, which China claims almost entirely.
