Man kills daughter, son-in-law with a sickle for marrying without permission in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu; Arrested – India Times Hindi News

A father murdered his daughter and son-in-law in Tuticorin district of Tamil Nadu. The man, identified as Muthukutty (50), hails from Veerapatti village near Kovilpatti town in Tuticorin district.

His daughter Reshma (20) was a second year student at a university in Kovilpatti. The woman was in love with Manikraj (26), a daily wage laborer in the area. They recently got married despite Muthukutty not approving their relationship.

Reshma’s father Muthukutty strongly opposed her love. The couple reportedly got married a few days back and had returned to the village two days back.

Muthukutty had strongly opposed their marriage. Later both were allowed to stay in the village through the Gram Panchayat. Although Muthukutty was in a live-in with his daughter.

Last night when Reshma and her husband Manikraj were alone at home, Muthukutty went there and killed both of them with a sickle. He later fled from the scene of the incident.

Primarily based on information about the incident, officials of the Ettayapuram police station went to the spot, recovered the bodies and sent them to the Tuticorin Government Hospital for post-mortem.

Police later arrested Muthukutty as well, and further investigation is on.
