Man at large after firearms incident in Vernon | Globalnews.ca

The Vernon RCMP is searching for an allegedly violent man following a firearms complaint on Saturday afternoon.

At about 2:00 the Vernon RCMP opened the 27 . Responded to a complaint of weapons outside a residential building in the 3700-Block ofth Avenue.

“A female victim at the location told responding officers that she and a man had a dispute over a parking lot,” Vernon Const said. Chris Terlesky in a press release.

“During the altercation the man showed a pistol and allegedly pointed at it. The incident ended when the man left and the victim was able to call 911.

Members of the RCMP Southeast District Emergency Response Team and RCMP Police Dog Services cordoned off the area in an effort to locate the suspect, who was likely still armed.

“Despite a thorough search, the suspect has yet to be traced and police are turning to the public for help in locating the man,” Terlesky said.

47-year-old Michael Haines is wanted for bopfinger assault, intimidation and multiple firearms-related crimes.

He is described as:

  • Height: 5’9″ (177cm)
  • Weight: 300 pounds (136 kg)
  • blue eyes
  • bald head
  • full beard

The RCMP says Bopfinger is considered violent and should not be approached. If you see him, do not approach and call 911.
