Man arrested for raping minor stepdaughter in Gurugram

A 30-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping his 11-year-old step-daughter and threatening to kill her in Gurugram on Saturday.

According to the police, the girl’s mother has lodged a police complaint against the accused. In the complaint, she said that sometime after the death of her husband six years ago, she had married the accused, who is a native of Nepal. For the past few years, he has been living in a rented house with his four children.

“He doesn’t do any work. When I returned from work on Thursday at 8.30 pm, my daughter told me that he had sexually assaulted her. She said that he had threatened to kill her if I told anyone. When confronted him, he threatened me,” said the girl’s mother, who works as a domestic help.

Police said that the child welfare committee officials counseled the girl. A police officer said, “The accused was arrested on Saturday. He was produced in the district court and sent to judicial custody.

One FIR Police said the case was registered under Section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
