The accident was so tremendous that many people broke their seat belts and they jumped out of the seat. Thankfully there was no casualty. The operators and employees ran away as soon as they fell under the swing. People tried to chase them but to no avail. During this, a stampede broke out at the fair site. DSP City-2 Harsimran Singh Bal, who reached the spot, said that there was a lot of crowd in the fair on Sunday. We are trying to find out how the accident happened. After that a case will be registered.

There was no ambulance or first aid facility in the fair
People told that there was no arrangement for any kind of ambulance or first aid on the part of the organizers at the fair site. When the accident happened, there was a stampede. Meanwhile, a lot of effort had to be made to take the injured to the hospital. The PCR of the police reached the spot, took the injured in a car and took them to the hospital. Later, the officials of the administration met all the injured and inquired about their condition.

Civil Hospital’s night in-charge Dr. Parminder told that as soon as he got information about the accident, all the staff were called to the spot. None of the people who reached the Civil Hospital had a head injury. There were injuries to the neck and back. One person has a nose injury. Apart from this, X-rays of the injured are being done. At present, no one has come to refer to Chandigarh.

Will fully cooperate with police in investigation: Organizers
The organizer of the fair, Sunny Singh told that how this accident happened, it will be found out. However, there seems to be a technical glitch so far. He told that he has organized many fairs before this but such a case has never come to the fore. We will fully cooperate with the police in this matter. He told that earlier the fair was only till 31st August but later it was extended till 11th September.

A major accident took place on Sunday night at a fair in Mohali district of Punjab. The drop tower swing suddenly fell down from a height of 50 feet on Sunday night in the fair held in the Dussehra ground of Phase-Eight here. There were about 30 people on the swing. DC Amit Talwar said that an inquiry will be conducted into the incident. Strict action will be taken against whoever is found guilty.

A fair named as London Bridge has been organized in Dussehra Ground of Phase-8. Due to the Sunday holiday, a large number of people had reached here. There was a huge crowd near the drop tower swing. About 30 people were enjoying riding on the swing. The swing was going uphill while rotating. Before reaching the top, it suddenly malfunctioned.
