Maharashtra Congress leaders object to Mamata’s remarks: ‘Congress is the only viable political option in the country’

Maharashtra Congress leaders protested on Wednesday West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s remarks on UPA and Rahul Gandhi, and said Congress is the only viable option BJP, He also said that the statements ridiculing the Congress amounted to playing in the hands of the BJP.

The country is well aware of the fight the Congress has fought against the oppression of the BJP and the central government, he said. No individual party can fight against BJP if that party continues to think about its political gains and personal ambition. Congress is the only viable option for the country and democracy,” said Balasaheb Thorat, Revenue Minister and Congress Legislature Party leader.

Congress is part of Maha Vikas Aghadi government Shiv Sena and NCP in Maharashtra.

“Congress under the leadership of Congress President Soniaji Gandhi and Rahulji Gandhi is continuously fighting against the dictatorial attitude of the BJP. Rahulji fought against the Modi government by standing firmly with the farmers on the issue of Land Acquisition Act and three agricultural laws.

He said the country was more important than individual ambitions and the fight against BJP needed to be fought unitedly keeping ego aside. “A political party confined to one state cannot be an alternative to the BJP. Congress is the only viable political alternative for BJP.

Senior Congress leader and PWD Minister Ashok Chavan said that the leadership of the Congress party does not need any certification for its commitment to democracy and the Constitution as well as the relentless struggle against the policies of the current central government.

“For the last seven years, the central government has been using the divide and rule policy on the opposition parties. In such a situation, it becomes the responsibility of all non-BJP parties not to get involved in politics supporting this policy of the Centre.
