Ludhiana drug overdose death: Two of the women arrested

Ludhiana Police on Tuesday arrested two persons, including a woman, after a 25-year-old man died of an alleged drug overdose.

The deceased has been identified as Pankaj Kumar (25) of Mundian Kalan. He was found dead at the house of one of the accused.

The arrested people have been identified as Prabhjit Singh, a resident of Sarpanch Colony and Bala Verma, a resident of EWS Colony.

According to the police, Pankaj and his friend Prabhjeet had bought drugs from Verma. Both had injected drugs into their veins at Prabhjeet’s house, where Pankaj collapsed and died.

The victim’s father Surinder Kumar said that Prabhjeet had come to their house and took Pankaj with him on the pretext of getting a job but his son never returned home. When he asked Prabhjit the address of his son, he started making excuses. Surinder Kumar said, “The next day when I reached Prabhjeet’s house, I saw my son lying dead on the floor with foam coming out of his mouth.”

Investigating officer ASI Surjit Singh said that after receiving the complaint, the police arrested Prabhjeet and based on the information given by him, also arrested Bala Verma, from whom Prabhjit and Pankaj had bought drugs.

A case has been registered against both the accused under sections 304 and 34 of IPC at Jamalpur police station.
