Lowest ever in third wave: 111 new cases | Nagpur News – Times of India – Bharat Times English News

Nagpur: The region reported only 111 new cases, with 35 of them from Nagpur district, on Friday. This is the lowest number of daily new cases in February, as well as since the peak of the present Omicron-dominated third wave. The development confirms that the Covid-19 graph of Vidarbha has reached the baseline now. Only one death was reported in the 11 districts of Vidarbha on Friday. A patient from Amravati died during treatment. Daily death toll was also lowest on Friday after the peak.
Overall, 367 patients recovered from Covid in a day. As 10,615 tests were conducted in last 24 hours, the test positivity rate dropped to 1% in last 24 hours. Recovery rate further improved to 98.24%. The case fatality rate is constant at 1.69%. All these developments suggest that the Covid situation is well under control despite most of the restrictions now revoked in urban as well as rural Vidarbha.
As far as Nagpur is concerned, 5,072 tests were conducted and only 35 of them tested positive. No death was reported in the district on Friday. Nagpur’s recovery rate has surpassed the 98% mark on Friday. Only 484 patients are under treatment in the district. The number of active cases in Vidarbha also came down to 1,107 on Friday. Now, Nagpur and Gadchiroli are the only two districts in Vidarbha to have more than 100 active cases.
Yavatmal: The number of new positive patients has narrowed down to only two women during the last 24 hours, keeping the toll unchanged at 1,803. At present, there are 36 active positive patients of whom six are in hospital and 30 in home quarantine. The administration received 763 test reports of which two were found positive. Of the 79,043 positive, 77,204 including 21 on Friday have recovered. The test positivity rate is 9.39%, the death rate is 2.28% and the daily positivity rate is 0.26%. The district has 1,755 beds for Covid patients.
Wardha: Eleven new positive cases from 478 test reports raised the active positive count to 96 on Friday. The caseload increased to 58,078 and recoveries stayed put at 57,020 as no patient was discharged today. The toll remained unchanged at 1,349.
Chandrapur: Seven detections out of 1,071 tests and 20 recoveries on Friday left 40 active patients under treatment. The day again remained casualty free. Cumulative Covid cases have grown to 98,921, which includes 97,314 recoveries and 1,567 deaths. The total tests now amounts to 8,75,508, which includes 7,74,827 negative results.
Amravati: An 80-year-old man from Kishor Nagar was the fresh Covid casualty on Friday that took the toll to 1,591. Only four new cases emerged from 497 samples tested today, taking the caseload to 1,05,902. With 15 getting discharged the recoveries reached 1,04,215 for a rate of 98.41. This left 64 active cases under treatment.
Akola: Out of 426 tests conducted in last 24 hours, only 4 tested positive in Akola. Total case load reached 65,127. On the other hand, 46 patients recovered in a day taking total recovery count to 63,899. Only 64 patients are under treatment now.
Washim: 2 new cases and 14 recoveries marked the day in Washim. Only 39 patients are under treatment in the district now.
Buldhana: Total 504 case reports were received in last 24 hours in Buldhana. With 23 of them positive, the district’s total Covid case load reached 98,914. Total 32 patients recovered in a day. Buldhana now has 89 patients under treatment.
Gadchiroli: 620 tests were conducted in the district in last 24 hours. 16 of them tested positive. On the other hand, 36 patients recovered. Gadchiroli reported more cases and fewer recoveries yesterday. Now, 150 patients are under treatment.
Gondia: Only 2 new cases were reported in the district from 178 samples tested in last 24 hours. Now, Gondia has only 10 patients under treatment, which is lowest in Vidarbha region. Out of them, 8 are in home isolation.
Bhandara: 734 tests were conducted, and only 2 of them tested positive in Bhandara on Friday. Now, the district has 33 patients under treatment with 14 recovered in a day.
