MSU Response: The first reports of firing came at 8:18 p.m. ET from Berkey Hall, an academic building on the north end of campus. According to MSU Interim Deputy Police Chief Chris Roseman, officers responded to the building within minutes and found multiple shooting victims, two of whom died. He said that soon after, another shooting was reported at the nearby Student Union building. This is where the third killed victim was found. As news of the mass shooting spread, anxiety spread across campus as the gunman was on the run. MSU interim president Teresa Woodruff said a shelter-in-place order went into effect.

Goosebumps scene: The deadly stampede forced students to save their lives by jumping from windows. Graham Diedrich, a graduate student at Michigan State University, recalled being in the library and furniture use Locked himself in a room during a stampede with other students.
